A Different Life

I read A Different Life in one sitting, I couldn't put it down and I was completely mesmerized by the stunning heartwarming romance.
The Echoes of Nut Hill series is amazing and A Different Life is another terrific book by Wendy Lou Jones that can easily be read as a standalone. The characters are all fantastic and they have a special place in my heart. I highly recommend this charming, moving and incredibly romantic series.

The story has walkie-talkies, fit men, plotting mothers, stubbornness, forgiveness, a learning curve, hot sex, an awful attack and much more. This meant I was hooked from the beginning and I desperately wanted to know what would happen next. I really enjoyed how the story develops and how few characters there are in it, so that you get to know the main ones really well. Michelle is my favourite as she is so strong on the surface, but she's obviously vulnerable underneath. However, she tackles everything that is sent to try her and I feel like I could take a leaf out of her book. I also liked Jake, Michelle’s younger brother, because of his sense of humour and also again how strong he is after the death his mother. A Different Life is a wonderful funny story.

The 4th book of the series Nutt Hill. The books can all be read as a series or as stand alone novels. As usual Wendy has done a fantastic job in writing this story. She's used characters we already knew from the other books, but are introduced to us again and a few more new characters. Its a book that is very difficult to put down until its finished.
Wendy all i can say is youve done it again, when is your next one out ????

Wendy Lou Jones has a way of pulling me in immediately with her words. She is an incredibly skilled storyteller. A Different Life is a beautiful story about two people whose worlds couldn't be more different, while they are actually more alike than they initially thought. I loved the way their story evolves and how their love slowly blossoms. A Different Life is another unique and gripping story in the Echoes of Nutt Hill series. I couldn't put this book down and flew through the pages because I wanted to know how it would end. Wendy Lou Jones is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints me with her wonderful stories.

Chances Are
The Wrtiting Garnet
Watching the characters grow as they dealt with their own pasts and feelings made me feel like I was walking the journey with them. When the characters were happy, I was happy, when they were sad, I was crying like a baby unable to breathe and looking like I had met Ruldolph for a slush puppy (red nose).
Even though I found ‘Chances Are’ a very moving story, crying with the events within the book felt like the natural step. Every situation flowed and every word had its place. I am in awe of Wendy and how she has written such an emotional, rollercoaster ride of a book, with such a BEAUTIFUL cover! A pleasure to read.

Wendy Lou Jones has written another amazing story. She writes about Rebecca's situation with so much dignity that she made me clearly feel the emotions she is writing about. While I was reading Chances Are there were tears streaming down my face a couple of times, but I also laughed and felt the joy of newborn love. Wendy Lou Jones is a fantastic writer. She knows how to pull you in with her beautiful stories. Chances Are is the third book of the Echoes of Nutt Hill series and I hope she will keep adding to this series for a very long time.

Chances Are is a beautiful multilayered love story. Wendy Lou Jones's novels are always deep and meaningful. She writes about realistic topics in an honest and emotional way. I love that about her books. They make me cry when the main characters are hurting and they fill my heart with joy when something good happens to them. Her books are fantastic emotional rollercoasters that always leave a lasting impression.

A fantastic sequel to her first book, Finding Sarah, in this series of Echoes of Nutt Hill. A well written story that could stand alone from the series but because you already know a few of the characters theres already a familiar warmth to the book when you start to read it. Shes done it again, written a book that once youve picked it up you can't put it down. Can't wait for the third book. Extremely well done Wendy

Sun On Sundays is a beautiful story about two people who couldn't be more right for each other. Life can get in the way of a good relationship though and they don't have an easy history together. This story is filled with heartbreak and despair, but also with true love and unbreakable bonds. I love how Wendy Lou Jones writes about the real things, the raw and the good sides of life. She makes her main characters go deep and I love all of her amazing emotional descriptions.

Finding Sarah
5 stars A beautiful and original story
By Suze Lavender
'Finding Sarah is a heartwarming, charming and unusual love story. Sarah is insecure and doesn't know how amazing she is. Slowly she becomes stronger and more self-confident. She makes her decisions with her heart and I enjoyed reading about that aspect of her personality the most. Nick is a great man, but he also has a past and the result of that is that he sometimes acts before he thinks. He's a passionate man and the idea of a gorgeous broad-shouldered vicar on a motorcycle is fantastic. Even though he's bound to the church he doesn't constantly preach his faith. The story focuses more on the consequences of his job. I liked that angle very much.'
4 stars A charming and romantic read
By Rachale's Reads
'A couple of years ago I read ‘By My Side’, which I really enjoyed, it was beautifully written and incredibly romantic, so expectations were high for this book, and it is precisely that.
Wendy creates a lovely setting in Lower Nutton and it’s surrounding areas around Nutt Hill, you can imagine all the beautiful and picturesque scenery everywhere you look. The sense of community is captured well here, in both the welcoming kind like Maggie shows, and the way that if you’re from the outside, you can sometimes feel isolated from people who are set in their ways.

Finding time to shut the world out, I settled down with this book. Well what can I say, except she's done it again.. I sat there, totally engrossed, oblivious to all others, in a world of my own not wanting the book to end. All I can say is when is Echoes of Nutts Hill Book 2 out ??? Soon I hope x

Deeply romantic without being oversweet and with lovely characters I would be happy to have as neighbours. I would recommend this to my mum and my gran too, but maybe wouldn't say quite how attractive I found the hero. I would leave that as a surprise for them to make their own minds up. – Judith Allen ****
4. stars A gentle and engrossing tale
By Georgia Hill
A gentle and completely engrossing tale of rural love and life - with a VERY sexy hero. If you like Sarah Challis or Joanna Trollope, you'll love it. I understand it's the first in a series. If so, I can't wait to dip into life in Lower Nutton again.

The Summer We Loved
5 star Beautiful! 20 Aug. 2015 By Suze @ Suze Likes, Loves, Finds and Dreams
...The Summer We Loved can be read as a standalone novel, but I would recommend to read By My Side first. It's one of my all time favorite novels and I highly recommend it. I'm a big fan of Wendy Lou Jones's writing. The Summer We Loved has the same beautiful style, it's distinctive and it's easy to recognize. She plays with time, with emotions and with words and she does that really well. I love how she makes her characters come to life. I could picture Jenny and Peter so well. Wendy Lou Jones doesn't make life any prettier than it is. Her stories are no fairytales, they're real and they're raw.
While reading The Summer We Loved I felt quite a lot of emotions. Sometimes I had a smile on my face and I also shed a few tears. I always love it when a book makes me feel so many things. Jenny and Peter's story is gripping and I was intrigued from the start. They are both gorgeous people, but they are scarred and they've made mistakes. I liked the versatility and depth of their personalities. It's obvious that for both Jenny and Peter their job is important, they live for their patients. The story is set in a hospital and it's very realistic. I enjoyed learning some new things through the inside information and lingo. I can't praise The Summer We Loved enough, it's definitely as good as By My Side and I think Peter and Jenny's story is impressive, sometimes tragic, incredible and often absolutely wonderful.
5 star Every tear counts in this beautifully crafted romance. 24 Aug. 2015 By Jolliffe Format:Kindle Edition 'The Summer We Loved' is medical romance with a twist, which makes it uniquely memorable and poignant. A chance meeting between Jenny and Pete sets the scene and from the first chapter you realise Jenny is telling this story for a purpose but what is it?
The characters are deep and realistic. Jenny is dedicated to everything she undertakes, almost driven and as her story unfolds it's easy to understand why. Drawn to Pete, the antithesis of everything she believes in, yet too reticent to do anything about it; until she realises he needs her, even if he doesn't realise it yet. Pete is complex and dark. He hides his demons and plays the fool and because of this is hard to empathise with until Jenny unpicks his barriers and reveals the frightened little boy hiding behind them.
The plot takes many turns but is so interesting you can't stop reading. The emotion is raw and sometimes painful to witness but there is nothing gratuitous in this story, every tear counts and adds to the rich fabric of the tale Jenny recounts. The ending is full of angst, maintains the emotional pressure and completes the story beautifully.
5 star A wonderfully emotional readBy Jane Linfoot 9 September 2015
I loved reading Wendy Lou Jones’ book, By My Side, and I’ve been looking forward to her next, The Summer We Loved, ever since. The Summer We Loved is more of a companion book than a sequel to By My Side, and can easily be read and enjoyed with no prior knowledge of the other book. The lovely cover is just a small taste of what’s to come.
Wendy Lou Jones has a unique style of writing which immediately draws me in. For me, reading her books is like curling up to watch a Sunday afternoon film in winter – I become totally engrossed, and as the afternoon light fades to dusk, it’s only at the end that I come back to reality, and realise I’m sitting in the dark. When I open one of Wendy Lou Jones’ books, it’s like sitting down to be told a story, and I’m unable to tear myself away until the last word is done.
Compelling, powerful, emotional, strong, The Summer We Loved is an intense read, which focuses on two main characters, nurse, Jenny, and junior consultant, Pete. The unrelenting grind of life working in hospital is brilliantly portrayed, and the medical detail and description, though not overdone, gives a perfect backdrop to the action. In fact the medical side acts as a great setting for a more complex storyline. Jenny and Pete are both facing demons from the past, which gives a satisfying depth to the multi-layered story. Occasionally the narrative flips backwards and forwards in time, and includes thoughts written in a journal, which is a device I enjoyed. My only tiny niggle with the book was that I’d have found it helpful to have the diary writing in italics.
I loved the way that the chemistry between the characters built right from the start. Their motivations, and the way their attitudes towards their relationship changed and evolved, were understandable and believable throughout the book.
For me the scenes at the lake district house were exceptionally evocative and moving. Jenny’s mother picking raspberries, and everything that followed, were perfectly handled by an author whose writing is becoming more accomplished with every successive book. In The Summer We Loved, alongside the emotion, Jones skillfully injects surprising twists and turns throughout, which take the story to another level.
A fabulous, beautiful book.

Desere, book reviewer - 4 Stars - 'Wendy Lou Jones has done it again! She made my cry so badly it felt like my heart was being ripped to shreds.'
ReaLovesBooks - 4 Stars - 'What a beautiful storyline this was. This is the first time I have read a book about a story within a story and at first I wasn’t sure if it was going to work but I soon became wrapped up in the story of Kate and Adam. It is full of emotion and romance and is very delicately written it was a very moving read... I have to admit to having a lump in my throat whilst reading this book it is a very emotional book and I won’t forget the ending of this book in a hurry.
This book was both heartbreaking and at the same time an uplifting read it really is a thought provoking book. Pop this one on your TBR lists but have a box of Kleenex at the ready.'
Reviewedthebook - 4.5 Stars - 'Powerful and emotional is how I would describe By My Side, added to the fact that I just did not want this story to end. I loved the ending but as I was approaching it, I had to slow down my reading because I wasn’t ready to let it go just yet! Every step in Kate and Adam’s story was striking and important and at times, I felt like I was reading with a lump in my throat. Combined with Lena’s involvement, towards the end this book was always going to be a little different and unlike so many other emotional romance novels, it was the perfect ending.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Four Word Review: Must Read - I cried! 29 July 2013
By Airam
Format: Kindle Edition
Yep I went from 'Oh what a delightful read' to 'Don't you dare!', half way through the book. It's like a cross between the 'Note Book' and 'Dear John'. As someone who writes to squaddies, sends care packages etc. I know how much truth there is in this novel. It is well researched. I know so many women who can relate to this story in one way or another. It was adorable and if I were a publisher I would be so happy to find this in my submissions pile.
It was a lovely mixture of potential love you can't wait to see grow intermingled with a smattering of a spiteful, selfish, bastard who thinks good looks and big... (ahem).... grin will win over anyone. Regardless of the cost of friendship and happiness. Basically a bullshitter in a china shop of fragile hearts. There were times when I wanted to reach inside the novel and throttle some characters for getting in the way and other times my heart swooned, clapped and cheered characters on.
It didn't paint an unrealistic picture of war. It was not all flowery romance and fiction. There were moments of clear 'reality checking', that brought the reader down to earth with a bump like a grounded cherub.
For once I didn't see the twist at the end coming, which resulted in the hand flies to cover your mouth in shock moment. Eyes blurred with tears, you blink heavily to try to clear them as you 'NEED' to know what happens and if anyone disturbs you, they will get a look that would put Medusa to shame. At the same time a storm rumbled over head and I found myself shouting at the thunder to 'shut up I am trying to read!', yup yelling at thunder for disturbing my readers moment of crisis. My book was my 'Thunder buddy' and there was a 'Do not disturb' sign in the atmosphere around my house.

I was enthralled with Sam and Andy as the author beautifully shared their stories with us. #TeamAndy here all the way! Wendy Lou Jones, the author, has written an emotional love story that
will make you unable o put the book down until the very last page. And be prepared for some surprises along the way too that will have you reaching for a packet of tissues.
