If I can write fictional lives for my characters, then why not for me too? Don’t you? Don’t we all at some time do the ‘if only’ thing and imagine winning the lottery and think about all the ways we would spend it? (Don’t get me started on that one.)
And why do we do this? It’s not for the money - not in publishing!!! - although I would never say no. It’s not even a wish for the celebrity lifestyle – I think I would hate that. For me at least (until someone else confesses) it’s the feeling that you’ve achieved something, something thought worth sharing with everyone. To get on the big screen, many many people have to think it worth doing. I suppose it’s a validation of your work. And if I get to meet Richard Armitage, or some other gorgeous actor in the process, then all the better. J
