Firstly, have you ever tried reading aloud without making ANY mistakes? Word perfect, an entire book. An entire chapter. A paragraph even? Oh My Goodness, it's hard! I've done the course, so I know how to edit out mistakes and correct them, but wow, this is going to take some time.
Also, I've found the ideal spot, the only spot really, in the house to do recordings and it's in my 16 year old son's bedroom. And I can tell you what he thinks about that!
And then there's the trouble with breathing. I can hear virtually every breath I take, particularly after a long sentence. Not to self: write in shorter sentences in the next book. They will have to be edited out too.
And finally, after listening to a test recording, I swear it could be marketed for sufferers of insomnia, my voice is so dull. And my youngest son agrees with me.
What have I started?
I'll keep you posted.
